Robert T. Brown Jr., beloved husband of Jeanette K. Brown for 70 years, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, died January 3, 2010 at Tuomey Medical Center, Sumter, S.C.
Born in Sumter, SC January 15, 1920, he was the son of Robert T. Brown Sr. and Mildred Hall Brown. He graduated from Edmunds High School in Sumter in 1937, served in the US Army from 1942-1945, and worked for 28 years at South Carolina National Bank in Sumter as Assistant Vice President, during which he attended courses at the University of Virginia in Richmond. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and faithful member of the the choir and the Sumter Men's Chorus. He was a sailing enthusiast, avid sportsman, gardner, and master story teller. He retired in 1992 to the family home at Tranquility Cove on Lake Marion where he was a member of the Santee Summer Ministry and the Jimmy Snyder Sailing Club.
Mr. Brown is survived by his wife of seventy years, Jeanette, son, Robert T. III and his wife Barbara, grandson Robert R. and his wife Mavis, and great grand-daughters, Kaitlyn, Amanda, and Elyse. Surviving brothers and sisters are Mildred H. (Brown) Shaw, Jane (Brown) Jeffress, and Murr H. Brown.
Graveside services will be held at the Sumter Cemetery at 2pm, Thursday, January 7.
