Dr. Reynolds called this morning and confirmed the move to Covenant Place next week. Dad is receiving nutrients via IV which Dr. Reynolds said might have to be stopped when the move takes place. If so, he said it would be more important than ever that Dad eat to get the calories he needs to heal. He also mentioned that Hospice has expanded their services beyond those people who are terminally ill to include those that need intensive support for recovery. He said he would investigate that for us and put us in touch with the appropriate people.
He said he was giving dad some blood because of a slightly low red blood cell count. He surmised that it could be due to the surgical procedures or from some renal insufficiency.....plain English would be slightly impaired kidney function. My aunt Mildred told me on the phone this morning that the Halls, my grandmother's side of the family, suffered from anemia all of their lives and that my uncle, Tom, had a severe blood disorder at one time. I am mostly documenting this for my own purposes but it might be of interest to the doctor.
