Reglan?

During the early part of the day today Dad continued his sleep state.  We met with his surgeon in the afternoon and discussed his lack of responsiveness and parkinsonian symptoms thinking the worst that possibly he had suffered a stroke.  The doctors conferred with each other and decided that Reglan, a drug given for nausea, had caused the symptoms. They told us that they had stopped it in the morning and as the day progressed we saw some slight improvement.  If you read back through these posts you will see that his last good day was last Thursday and that is the day that they started the Reglan.

Before going home tonight dad was a bit more responsive and almost back to his normal curmudgeonliness, if there is such a term.  We are hoping that the negative symptoms presented over the last two days were related to the drug Reglan and that they will clear up.  We are realistic though knowing that he was not really himself before his emergency surgery.  So, any improvement will be wonderful and if he can get in rehab and if it helps him so much the better.
