Still Restless At Night
We are trying to get a little rest this morning but we did call the hospital and spoke with dad's nurse. He said dad kept pulling out his IV they had in his arm to keep him hydrated so he just took it out. He said he would try to make sure he drinks during the day to compensate for that. He also said that his blood sugar was around 135 so the sliding scale insulin regimen they started last night is working. Surgical patients seem to sometimes have a rise in blood sugar from the insult to their bodies but levels that are too high can cause problems so they try to keep it down with insulin. Dad's nurse said he told him a joke this morning and dad responded by saying, "I am funnier than you." So, he is still in there. His nurse also said that he had gotten him up sitting in a recliner chair they have in the room. That also is good because he is just sick of being in the bed.
