Dad had a rough night last night. He was very agitated and difficult. They finally removed him from all the meds he was on. He was behaving as if he had been on a severe drinking binge. The only way I know to describe it is that he seemed extremely drunk. When I arrived he was confused and very disoriented. After a couple of hours he was much more coherent and even said that you could drive a few miles to Taco Bell and get better food. I do think that he was trying to be funny because the food looked really good to me. But, as we all know, just being in the hospital is enough to make you lose your appetite. The fifth floor of Tuomey, the acute rehab center that he is in, is a superb facility and the care seems excellent.
We got mom moved or I should say her furniture moved into Covenant Place. She has a nice apartment there and for now it will be her townhouse when she needs to be close to dad. If dad gets out of the hospital then it can be his too but for now we are treating it as a way for her to be close to dad. We also found out that she can have guests in her apartment so I plan on spending the night with her for a while until she gets used to it. I wish I had taken some photos to share but it was a frantic and intense day of moving stuff that was successful thanks to good friends and family.
I hope to get back to my dear and patient wife soon. It will have to be after I am confident that things are stable here. I think today was a good step in the right direction.
