Hello Bobby:
I thought I’d let you know that Melanie and I went and saw your dad for about an hour tonight and had a really good visit. He instantly knew us and we thought he looked good. On his table, there was a cup of ice water, a dish of apple sauce, and some sort of vanilla or maybe lemon pudding and pretty soon, Melanie was offering to feed him and he just ate the whole dish of apple sauce, chewed up a bunch of ice, and ate maybe a fourth of the pudding. A doctor came in (Melanie knows him as Dr. L) to look into “nutritional issues” and upon seeing him eat and chew, said “Wow” several times. He said there was a protein packet that could be mixed with apple sauce or pudding and that he could have that three times a day. He asked Bobby if he liked ice cream and he said, “Yes, chocolate with nuts.” The doctor asked one of the nurses to go get him a chocolate smoothie. He left and then a nurse came in with a regular dinner plate with mashed potatoes and gravy, creamed carrots, creamed peaches, and some ground roasted chicken. He ate a little of everything but all of the peaches and all of a small container of Ensure. The ice cream had not come by the time we left but the nurse said she’d feed it to him when it got there. Ray Simmons came by and said he thought Bobby looked a lot better than when he visited last. Just before we left, I suggested to Bobby that he try to be patient and just go with the flow and then I asked him if there was anything that he would like for me to report to the public and he said, “Yes, Melanie is the greatest.”

Report from Paul Beaty
We left dad tonight and thought he was sleeping peacefully. He had good color and was really sleeping deeply. Upon returning to Covenant Place after some grocery shopping we were delighted to read the following report from my cousin Paul Beaty. Paul and his wife Melanie had a great visit with dad:
