Dad in his element

Up and Down

This morning dad's sister Mildred reported that he was completely alert and engaged.  He went to one PT session but his nurse reported that he just crashed when they tried to get him to a second one.  When we got there this evening he was having some difficulty feeding himself and then he just fell asleep.  He is a very tired old man who has had some major traumas both physically and mentally.  How much he can come back is still very much in question.

Mom's place at Covenant is nice.  It is furnished for basic living and with some nice touches of pictures and drapes will be a pleasant place to live.  Mom has told me that she will not be able to live alone.  I can't begin to imagine what she must be feeling.  I grieve one day and then hope the next but there is no denying that dad is 90 years old and is a very tired man.  I refuse to count him out completely yet though as he has a lot of strength.  If he can get past this trauma he might have a few more years but this is a serious incident.
